It’s January 2012, and the mass media and Washington are abuzz for the moment about intellectual property issues. For a month, the SOPA (Stop Online Piracy Act) and PIPA (Protect Intellectual Property Act) legislative efforts figured in the national news reporting spotlight.
The issue was contentious and both sides very well financed. One lobbying group’s “copyright protection” initiative was the other group’s “Internet censorship” effort.
With Unycom a major player in the IP management world, we had to blog about it. Here is what I wrote as a primer to explain the yin and yang of the issue and the rancor in Washington.
